Part 'L' of the 1995 UK building regulations concerning the 'Conservation of fuel and power' gives a required thermal performance level for vehicle access and similar large doors as 0.7 W/m2K maximum.
Using the proportional test area method of the CIBS guide, independent calculations by the National Physical Laboratory established a 'U' value of 0.59 W/m2K for Welseal insulated doors. A 25mm thick continuous polyurethane foam layer backed by a fibre reinforced, white, wipe-clean, polyester film is laminated to the inside of the continuous steel door curtain eliminating the occurrence of thermal bridges found in the other doors.
This combination of the white surface material and upgraded underlying foam even provides an aesthetic improvement over the original silver aluminised insulation.
Based on the proven Welseal roller shutter doors, which have undergone arduous independent testing 250,000 operating cycles, without maintenance, the insulated versions provide additional benefits.
